Yes, Virginia, It IS a Big Deal!

About six weeks ago our son, Devon, was asked by one of his acting coaches if he would be interested in reading for this “conference thingy” (Devon’s description of what Dr. Manhart said) coming to town. Devon said it sounded interesting and so he agreed to do it.

Well, this “conference thingy” is a big deal! I tried telling Devon this - but, hey, I’m only a mom, right? What could I possibly know? This event is sponsored by Edward Albee and includes many known members of theatrical society.

Okay, so we get his head shot, he writes a bio…. and still he doesn’t get that it’s a big deal - that is until last night. When he went to rehearse with Dr. Manhart last night, he learned just what a big deal this is. Devon saw his published bio (which, by the way, had been semi-rewritten and had some incorrect statements in it!) and his published headshot. He saw some of the write-ups in trade mags and saw his official entrance badge which listed him as “Actor”. And he came over to the house afterward and said, “Wow! Mom, this thing I’m reading at is a BIG deal!!”

Ah! Being a proud mother of a young man with great acting abilities is a wonderful thing. Being the proud CORRECT mother of same young man - PRICELESS!!

May your grills be hot, may your burgers be med-rare and may your Memorial Day be blessed. Special prayers to those remembering someone close to you that gave their life for our freedoms.
