August!!

2007 August 6

Not only is it August, it’s already the SIXTH!! While that may not seem that late in the month to you, to me it is only ONE WEEK until we start up with our schooling again.

Crysta’s goal this summer was to get atleast two – three subjects completed. She is striving to graduate a full three semesters early. Well, she did not accomplish her goal (but she had a darn good time with friends!), but she did manage to get a business/technical credit out of the way by completing her consumer math. (Math-U-See Stewardship Math) Not what she planned, but I must admit I still am impressed – she IS only fourteen, you know! And she already has Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II (and Honors Algebra II) done. She will be working on pre-calc/trig this year. This one will be a BIG struggle for me. Good thing her Aunt Candy has her Master’s in Mathematics Education!!

My goal this summer was to have her school work set up for the new year by the end of July. Well, I didn’t reach my goal either. I am almost done, but almost only counts in horseshoes and hand granades!! (One of my Grandpa Gall’s colorful expressions!) I will get it done in time – I always do. I had a real scare because I couldn’t find my grade 10 SOS discs for World History and Biology! I reordered them, then did a quick search of Crysta’s room only to find them. Thanks to Chris at Schoolhouse Resources for cancelling $185 worth of order that I wasn’t going to need.

Tomorrow I should hear about the position at First Data. I am hopeful that I will get it. The interview went extremely well, and I have a real peace about going back to work. At fifty, it’s either now or never! I would keep my fingers crossed, but I know God’s in control and my fingers aren’t.

Pastor Pat did an excellent sermon yesterday morning on praying for the Bible’s priority. We were in Col. 1:9-14. We should be praying for spiritual growth for ourselves and our brothers, along with maturity in our Christian life. Good stuff, or should I say, “God Stuff”!

You can hear his sermon online at: http://www.omahabiblechurch.org/ – at the top right, you’ll see recent sermon audio. It’s the “Prayer Priorities” sermon of 08/05 a.m.

Well, I need to get back at it. I have to get Crysta’s Language Arts work logged into my grade tracker.

God is good, and His mercy is new every day!!
