(Devon, friend Bill, and Sean on moving day.)
Today was a monumental day. It was big. It was fantastic. It was time for it to happen. Today, the twenty-year-old twins moved into their own apartment. I find it somewhat humorous. These are the same two boys who complained about sharing a room until they were eighteen. These are the same two boys that said they were tired of everyone just assuming they were together - and lumping them into one sentence. And today, they moved into an apartment together - HOWEVER, they do have their own bedrooms!
This wasn’t supposed to happen until tomorrow. The problem was that Devon has to work all day tomorrow. Okay, the problem for ME was that Devon has to work tomorrow…. because he was okay about it. His theory? That if he wasn’t here, moving would go on without him. Well, after lifting prayer to God and placing a strategic phone call, they were allowed to sign their lease today and begin moving in.
We were going to be doing this alone, but God gave us an opportunity to run into an old friend of the boys who wasn’t doing anything in particular today. Bill was kind enough to decide he wanted to help us. Bill is really handy - one little worker bee fo’ sho!! There was a truck available with our local UHaul dealer (hey, it’s a small town…) and so we began the process of “staging”. We got everything from upstairs down to the porch, and we had already staged furniture into the garage.
Everything went smoothly and quickly. We moved them 23 miles away from home, got the truck unloaded, and got things unpacked and put together in a matter of about four hours. God is good. I won’t have a chance to miss them for a few days. Both of their cars are broken down, and Mom gets to play Taxi for them for the next week until Devon gets his new car. I’m pretty sure that I won’t miss them too much. They are twenty, and they’ve been home all this time (with brief intermissions). It was time for them to move out, move on and grow up to be the adults they are meant to be. Dad and I have trained them up in the way they should go - the rest is up to them (and, of course God!). We are confident that, even when there are potholes in their road, they will come through it all.
I’m done for the evening. Tomorrow is another day. I think I am going to like having just three people in the house. And, although I will miss the craziness that five people can create, I know that God has our boys in His hand and they will be okay no matter what.
Have a blessed evening,
R.

Funny you should mention that…. Sean was just saying today that, since the apartment was so nice and just redone, they plan on living alot cleaner than they did at home. Go figure!!

Woo Hoo!! I’m glad we got pictures of the apt before. I am hopeful that they will keep it clean. A big thank you goes out to Bill for his help.
