I have several things to post today, but only small blocks of time. So, here is the first of what may be several snippets of the day.
Mom had her PETscan early last week. (See here to know what I’m talking about….) The day she was supposed to get her results, we had an ice storm here in the Omaha, NE area. The good news is her doctor called her to tell her that one (of the two) tumor on her liver had completely vanished. The second has shrunk to less than 1 cm in size. This is good news for sure. The “vanished” tumor indicates the cells that were forming it are totally dead. The “shrinking” tumor indicates those cells are dying and cannot find a place to feed.
Today, Mom will be going to her oncologist, Dr. Peter Townley, to discuss options from here. Our prayer is that Dr. Townley will give the okay for Mom to have the tumor “frozen” surgically without having to remove any of the liver. Mom will be okay with whatever he says - she has even said she would not mind another round of chemo, since she knows it is doing what it is supposed to be doing!
Ultimately, we are praying to resolve the liver issue so Mom can have her small intestine put back together (ileostomy reversal) so she can “be whole” (as she likes to call it) again.
If you are so moved, I would ask that you be praying for my Mom, Venus. That, no matter what God deems in this, Mom (and us, her family) will remember that He is in control.
Father, You are in control. You know Your plans for this situation, and we know Your plans are right and just. Grant us peace in our position with You. My prayer is that I have more days in which to show my mother Your love. Whatever days we have Lord, may we use them to Your glory and to Your will. AMEN
In Him,
Robin
