A Call To Prayer!

Now don’t misunderstand.  I am not issuing a call to pray.  It would be totally unnecessary for me to do so, because God has called us to it in His Word!  Right now one of the main concerns on many a person’s mind is the upcoming election.

Scared about what’s going to happen during this time?  What if Joe McLiberal or Hillabeans Carepackage wins?!  Well, God has a plan - and he calls us to be part of it in prayer!

Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Romans 13:1-2 Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except for God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God, and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.

1Timothy 2:1-2 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

Oh, that’s all well and good - you may be saying.  But is that really going to solve anything politically? Surely God’s not going to concern Himself with that!

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.

And if you’re still not convinced that God is listening to our prayers - in everything - then consider the plea of the psalmist:

Psalm 141:1-2 O, LORD, I call upon Thee; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to Thee! May my prayer be counted as incense before Thee; the lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.

And this, dear believer, is the response to that plea - found in God’s word:

Revelation 5:8 And when He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense - which are the prayers of the saints.

Times may look bleak for our governmental process here in the USA, but take heart - If God is for us, who can be against us?

Have a blessed evening,
Robin
