This appeal is to everyone who comes to this site today. Please take the time to listen to these videos. Yes, I am asking you - mostly people I do not even know - to invest some time to listen to what these videos have to say. [Part One is approximately nine minutes, Part Two approximately six]
My second appeal is that they be in prayer for Rick Warren. Harsh is the judgment on those who teach - harsher still for those who teach falsely.

I was with him at the beginning; a lot of the sermons I’ve heard are guaranteed to not produce spiritual maturity. But it seems as he goes on that he’s taking aim at certain types of churches (expository preaching types), suggesting they aren’t as mature as his church.

I got the feeling that he was saying that sermons, in general, were not designed for the purpose of spiritual growth. While I agree with you that many a sermon in today’s churches are not filling that bill, biblically speaking, sermons are for the believer and are specifically for growth. What we have today are misguided churches that read “go and spread the Good News” as “bring the lost in and try to get them on board”.

I think Rick meant to say “his” sermons. Because I have witnessed his sermons. The congregation looks like they are bored to tears and waiting for the next music break in his sermon. I wonder how many Saddleback members are consumed by the word of God when someone like Tim Keller or Mark Driscoll preach at Warren’s church?
