Samir Kuntar – Murderer To The World, Hero To Lebanon.

Linda Chavez has written an article (The Cagle Post – here) about the hero’s welcome received by Samir Kuntar when he, being held as a prisoner,  was exchanged by Israel for the two soldiers who had been kidnapped by Hezbollah in 2006.  The soldiers were returned in caskets, although Israel had been told repeatedly they were alive.  Kuntar’s crime is recounted in the story. 
This man is no hero from a moral standpoint.  The question asked by Linda Chavez needs to resound from nation to nation, from people to people, from heart to heart: 

A country’s heroes are a reflection of its people’s values. So what does it say that Lebanon gave a hero’s welcome to Samir Kuntar this week?

I hope you will take a few minutes to read the article. I hope you will join me in prayer for the people of Lebanon. Our Lord’s word says we are to take the gospel to all nations. His word says we are to love our enemies. His word says we are to pray without ceasing. Lebanon needs the Lord, the I AM, the One True God. Lebanon needs salvation.

And after all that, here’s something I would ask you to think about. In light of Ms. Chavez’s question about the reflection of a nation based on its heroes – What does our treatment of the true heroes of our nation say about us?
