I Think It Is Time To Truly Look At These Things!

KUSA – Some viewers contacted 9NEWS Saturday, questioning the design of the credentials to see Sen. Barack Obama accept the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

The viewers say with the stars and blue field in the lower left corner, it looks like an upside down American flag. Published flag etiquette states the stars should always be displayed in the upper left corner. An upside down flag represents an international symbol of extreme distress.

Matt Chandler with the Obama campaign says the flag is not upside down. He says it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama’s shirt with the flag blowing in the wind.

Natalie Wyeth with the Democratic National Convention Committee sent 9NEWS the following statement Saturday night: “The DNCC community credentials incorporate patriotic design elements. They do not depict an actual American flag. The DNCC has full and complete respect for the flag and all rules of display.”

Here’s my problem with this: You have a person from Obama’s campaign making the statement “the flag is not upside down.” He then goes on to state it is a stylized flag. Okay, so it IS a flag. Oh, hmmmm – and look, it IS upside down!! He then goes on to say it is designed that way to blend the stars on the Senator’s shirt with THE FLAG (okay, so again he says it IS a flag) blowing in the wind. Well, you can look at the image with Obama in any good photo shop type program and see the shirt the Senator is wearing is white, not navy blue with white stars. That coloring/imagery is hologramed in from the flag, not vice-versa.

To top it off, the DNC has a committee member make a statement saying the credentials do not depict an actual American flag. Yet it is absolutely an American flag! Any idiot can see it is an American flag.

And THAT is the thing that really sits wrong with me. This is just another in a series of things that any idiot should be able to see through Obama’s team’s explanations of. The media has so inundated us with Obama that many have become mesmerized, dare I say hypnotized, by their coverage!

I have no doubt that Obama, his campaign staff, and the DNC understand what they are doing. And that is what scares me the most.
